Emily, Till, Madeleine
Alas, we are still not keen on really eating eggs (I did convince Emily to eat them twice in recent history by telling her they were "butterfly food". As we are very into butterflies at the moment; I was granted a smidgen of success), however we love to ride in the giant "eggs" at Busch Gardens. This is the only ride (for our age group) where one adult can go with two children. Madeleine in on the left and Emily is on the right. I had gone on the egg ride on a previous trip and didn't want to deprive Till the opportunity of experiencing it.
Madeleine
EmilyWe went to Yorktown last Saturday and played in the sand on the beach. The girls were also brave enough this time to stick their feet in the water and let the waves wash over their toes as well as play in the wet sand a bit (video M in lavender shirt, E in white). Emily was the first to try this, but Madeleine joined in and eventually, though inadvertently, surpassed her sister by stepping off a shallow ledge and landing on her bottom in the water. The fact she was wearing wet clothing led to a near nervous breakdown. Apparently, in the world of two-year olds, it is hysterically funny to ride all the way home in nothing but a dry diaper; the subject of many conversations for the next several days.
Colonial Williamsburg was made a little more exciting this week by a personal introduction to Holly. Holly is a small black and white dog who daily walks by the "squirrel tree" with determined hope she will eventually catch one of the little critters (the branches on this tree reach to the ground so the squirrels really do taunt Holly, and others, by running right down to the ground and past the "predator" of the moment without having to so much as hop on to another branch). Both girls were given the opportunity to pet Holly, Madeleine accepted, and Madeleine got to give Holly a treat - something Holly gets when she is nice to people (if someone gave me treats, I might be nicer to people too).
On a final note the girls did a very nice interpretation of being elephants, using their snapping beads for trunks as seen in this video. I was cooking dinner and couldn't figure out what all the noise was about; I was then informed they were being "E'phants".
